
Kurt E. Alexander
Kurt Alexander is Board Certified by The Florida Bar and The National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Trial Law; he is AV® Preeminent™ Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating it awards for legal skill and ethics; he has been identified by Best Lawyers in America®, and Super Lawyers®; he is an Advocate member of The American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation only organization of civil trial lawyers nationwide, and he is a Senior Life Fellow of The American Board of Trial Advocates Foundation. He is currently Secretary-Elect of the American Board of Trial Advocates Central Florida Chapter.
Mr. Alexander currently serves on the Executive Council of The Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar, also as its liaison member to The Florida Bar Rules of Civil Procedure Committee, and he has served as Chair of its Legislative, Bylaws, Professionalism Guidelines, and Continuing Legal Education Committees, for which he is the current Chair. He is also a past Co-Chair of its renowned Advanced Trial Advocacy program, conducted at the University of Florida College of Law for experienced trial lawyers, annually. As Chair of its Professionalism Committee, he rewrote and updated the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section's Guidelines for Professional Conduct, which were adopted by the Conferences of Circuit and County Court Judges for the State of Florida. He is also one of the authors of the recent Florida tort reform rule changes, most particularly as they pertain to Florida Rule of Civil Procedure 1.280 discovery.
He has been appointed by Order of the Supreme Court of Florida to its Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Civil Cases; recently, he has been appointed by the President of The Florida Bar to its Standing Committee on Professionalism, The Florida Bar's Continuing Legal Education Committee, and to The Florida Bar's Special Committee on the Sustainability Initiative for Attorneys. He has twice served as Chair of The Florida Bar Grievance Committee for his area. He has also testified before the Civil Justice Subcommittee of the Florida Legislature as a fact expert on the subject of Proposals for Settlement in litigation.
Mr. Alexander has a very active trial practice that has primarily involved the defense of matters involving civil litigation from the time he was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1989. Mr. Alexander is admitted to practice in Florida, before all Florida Federal District Courts, the Federal Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and The United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Alexander has served a number of charitable causes over the years, including ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc. as General Counsel since 1997, he provides legal representation to combat international child abduction and human trafficking in conjunction with the U.S. State Department, and he supports other causes involving children’s issues.
